This is what ACCESS is all about...

Hamed Barik BA(Hons) MA

Hamed Barik has shown what can be achieved if you apply yourself to something you really want. He joined Tower Hamlets College in September 2001 to start what was then known as a Pre-Access course: a Level 2 programme of study that concentrates on the basics of Maths and English, and helps mature students get back into the swing of studying again.  After gaining credits in that Hamed was accepted on to the full ACCESS programme to prepare himself for university, to read for a history degree.

Throughout 2001-02 Hamed proved to be a model student and successfully completed the ACCESS course with flying colours and was duly accepted to read for a BA in History at the prestigious School of Oriental and African Studies, which is part of the University of London.

After 3 years hard work Hamed was awarded a BA in History and was immediately accepted to read for a Master's Degree, from September 2005.

Applying himself as diligently as ever Hamed completed his studies last summer and awaited his results... on 30 November 2007 he got confirmation that he was successful in his post-graduate studies and was awarded an MA in Near & Middle Eastern Studies with a Merit Classification, from the Department of Political Science.

This is an absolutely fantastic achievement and one he should be very proud of.
It does go to show that the lack of formal qualifications should not hold you back if you have a desire to study at university and gain a degree.
