Congratulations Janice

A big well done to Janice Donowa who graduated from

Roehampton University with a BSc in Psychology and Counselling.

Janice was a student with us 2005-06, studying daytime and evening.

She is another great example of what enthusiasm and hard-work can achieve

Well done Dr Barry!   Sayka has recently completed a PhD from Queen Mary (University of London) and is now working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Molecular Oncology & Imaging, Institute of Cancer, Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Sayka joined the ACCESS programme in 1997-98.  This is what she said: ‘When I came for the interview for the Access to Science course I was asked where I would like to see myself in 5 years time... I said I will be doing my PhD... Finally I did receive a scholarship for a PhD but it took me 8 years (Access course to PhD) to come to this point’.

Congratulations Dr Coogan

If you're a regular on these pages you will know that Joy was an Access student who finished here in 1998.  Since then Joy has gone on to do marvellous things with the opportunities an Access Certificate gave her.

She studied for a degree in Psychology at the University of East London. She liked it so much she ended up working there as a researcher and lecturer and, recently, gained her doctorate in Psychology.

This is a marvellous achievement for someone who once described herself as an 'ordinary mum of 5 children'.

Be surprised at what you can achieve at Tower Hamlets College.

An ACCESS story...

Read about Hamed's rise from Pre-Access student in 2000, to two degrees from SOAS by 2007.

GOODBYE and GOOD LUCK

Robin Richardson left college on the 8th January to retire from teaching. Robin was a stalwart of the ACCESS Department and will be sorely missed.

We all send him our very best wishes.
